This strawberry is the inspiration for this post. It showed up in my strawberry patch a few years ago. Nothing I’ve grown since has topped it. Who doesn’t love elephant shaped strawberries?
1: Fanny Strawberry

This is subtly wonderful the way the shape is both strawberry and cow simultaneously. And she’s wearing such a serene look, as if she knows strawberry milk is better than the plain kind.
2: Surreal Strawberries

I’ve got a weakness for “monster plants” so this caught my eye immediately. It’s rendered so delicately, yet has a wonderful undercurrent of evil.
3: Strawberry Egg

What do you suppose this tastes like?
4: Garden of Earthly Delights

Hieronymus Bosch crammed alot of great little details in his Garden of Earthly Delights and this is one of my favorites.
5: Strawberry Hand

I’ve got a pretty good imagination but I can’t begin to guess what prompted this piece. That always gets bonus points in my book.
6: Tasty

This is the juiciest looking fish I’ve ever seen, and his look of stunned indecision is so expressive.
7: Nature of Nurture

I have adored this painting for years and managed to score a print some time back. I think it’s all about the octopus for me, but over all Greg Simkins uses such a wide range of textures in his work that they are all a delight to view.
